Dear GENIVI members,
I am happy to announce that the Franca+ PoC code discussed in to GENIVI Tools Team is finally available publically.
Franca (https://github.com/franca/franca/wiki ) is a Domain Specific Language to describe interfaces and deploy them for communication subsystems.
The purpose of the Franca+ PoC is to agree upon Franca extensions for describing an overall (software) architecture model (including interfaces, components, instances, partitioning of instances and deployment) together with interested parties and the Franca maintainer in GENIVI.
We found that we need a specific working sample of the proposed language solution to end up with a good result for such an architecture description language, because it gives many people a better chance to try it out, gain experience and provide feedback how it solves their problems, compared to just showing text examples.
The project homepage (which is quite minimalistic yet) with a description how to build is available at https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=14976869
The current status of the Franca+ PoC reflects results of BMW internal specification efforts as well as some requirement and early technical discussions in the Tools Team, and is meant as a proposal and starting point for further joint development.
Franca+ is not part of the official Franca project currently, its relation to Franca will be agreed in future once a number of technical and strategical issues are solved.
Therefore please direct any questions and problems regarding Franca+ to GENIVI mail lists rather than the Franca project.
