Deepan,

Thanks for your questions. I am putting your email back on the
genivi-projects list so that other technical people can offer answers to
your questions. I can answer only one of your questions about "placeholder"
components. You are correct that if a component is of the status of
placeholder, that means only requirements are available and no code. For
the other questions, I will have to defer to the technical team.

As I mentioned, our technical leadership is heads-down on sessions this week
at our member meeting. I will see a few of them and mention this email so
that they are aware of your questions. However, please be patient as their
response may be delayed due to the event and travel home.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your immediate response. We have gone through
the compliance specification document and we have some doubts regarding the
usage of GENIVI software component.

1) According to our understanding, only requirements will be available for
a placeholder(for example: Device Management) component. Implementation and
the complete documentation for Placeholder component will not be available.
Is this assumption correct?

2) The component type of Media Sources is not mentioned in compliance
specification document. Can you please explain about it?

3) In GitHub, POC using GENIVI Media framework is available using the
services offered by DLNA. We have a requirement to implement media Manager
for USB source. Is the common implementation available for media framework
irrespective of media source or do we need to implement specific to USB?

4) In GitHub, we are able to download packages individually but not full
fledged. How to download complete GENIVI components source code as a single
package?

5) Is there any document available for building all the software component
in developer PC?

Deepan,

We are in the middle of our annual member meeting and many of our technical
experts are engaged in the event. Please be patient for a reply on this
topic. I have cc'ed Jeremiah Foster, our Community Manager who may be able
to help answer some of your questions.

Have you visited the www.github.org/genivi<http://www.github.org/genivi> repository? This is where many
of the GENIVI-specific components are hosted and you may find helpful hints
(readme's) and the code there for many of the P1 specific components. You
can also visit the GENIVI wiki at https://at.projects.genivi.org where you
will find additional information about many of the GENIVI software
components. You may also wish to visit the wiki pages on the GENIVI yocto
baseline, which contains all P1 specific components in a buildable package
(see: https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/display/PROJ/meta-ivi).

As a GENIVI member, TCS also have access to the GENIVI Platform Compliance
Specification. The most recent version is attached to this email (this was
just approved today so is the final version). This is a members-only
document, so I would ask that you not forward this beyond your organization.
(Note: I have removed the genivi-projects email list from this thread).

Thanks for your patience.

Steve

Hi,

We are planning to use GENIVI P1 and P2 components for our IVI solution.
We need to know how to access technical documents and source code for all
the software components. It would be helpful if we know how to use the
provided components.

We are able to access technical documents from GENIVI resource kit website
only for few components. So as of now we are stuck as to how to proceed with
the understanding of the components(for example: document for Device Manager
is not available). Looking forward for your reply.
