[genivi-dlt] Switch off Log and File transfer

Hello Prathap,

The priority for log level will be given to dlt_logstorage.conf. So if you specify a log level for a context “CTX1” as “DLT_LOG_VERBOSE” in dlt_logstorage.conf, the logs from CTX1 will always be allowed even if you try to off it via any client [dlt-viewer, dlt-control].

This is applicable only for the contexts specified in dlt_logstorage.conf. If you have some other contexts available in your system and it is not specified in dlt_logstorage.conf then it can be controlled normally.

Best regards,

Subject: Re: [genivi-dlt] Switch off Log and File transfer

When I enabled offlinelogstorage to my local drive or triggered log storage to external devices using dlt-logstorage-ctrl software component, I couldn't OFF the dlt-daemon log transfer using dlt-control or dlt-viewer application. But when I disabled offlinelogstorage and/or unsubscribed all the external storage, I could successfully ON/OFF my dlt-daemon log transfer behaviour.

Can I able to ON/OFF log transfer when offline logstorage is enabled?

Thanks & regards

Hello Manikandan,

Thank you so much for a detailed explanation. I tried all those options yesterday and surely the option that you mentioned is more suitable for us.

Thanks & regards,

Hello Prathap,

The option what we have explained is not for display side alone. The configured log level in dlt-viewer will be sent to dlt-daemon running in target and it will be sent to the dlt user library as well. So the logs will be filtered out at the user application level itself.

The option you have mentioned by changing the ContextLogLevel in dlt.conf is like a static configuration and whenever you change it, you need to restart dlt-daemon. But the option we have explained is dynamic log level change and you don’t need to restart the dlt-daemon.

But if you want to trigger this log level change through another application, then you can use dlt-control but you should uncheck “send default log level ” option and “auto reconnect timeout” in dlt-viewer as Christoph mentioned[since this will override the log level you are configuring through dlt-control].

Subject: Re: [genivi-dlt] Switch off Log and File transfer

Hi Christoph & Mani,
The issue was due to the improper settings of property ContextLogLevel in the dlt.config and its value was 4 by default. Now when I start dlt-control application, always the log level was set to 4 on registration of new context by dlt-control. So the log will transfer always. Now I set this property ContextLogLevel to 0 (OFF) and restarted dlt-daemon and the problem is resolved.

It is the first time that I am using this component. Thank you very much for your timely help.
Thanks & regards
Prathap

Hi Prathap,

What Mani and me wanted to explain is that the DLT Viewer by default sends log level updates (default: INFO). You have to configure the DLT Viewer to not send these updates. It’s likely that the DLT Viewer overrides the configuration you made using the dlt-control application.

Christoph

Thank you very much for the reply.

But the option that you are explaining is just in the display side. I want to switch off the logs in the dlt-daemon itself so that when I install the daemon in an android device installed in a vehicle, I need to control it's on/off behavior using another Android application. When I off the log, the daemon needs to stop log transfer.

Prathap

Hi Prathap,

If you are using dlt-viewer, then you can use edit ECU option and set the default log level as "off" which will turn off the logs of all contexts which uses default log level.

Hi Prathap,

When using dlt-control, are you running DLT Viewer as well? If so, make sure you unchecked "Send Default Log Level ..." in the "ECU" tab and "auto-reconnect" in the "IP" tab of the ECU Configuration dialog.

Betreff: [genivi-dlt] Switch off Log and File transfer

Hi All,

I am actually doing a feasibility of using dlt-daemon for my project. I have compiled and run the project successfully and log transfer is working fine and now the logs and transferred files can view using dlt-viewer.

One of the main requirement of my project is to completely switch off the log transfer and file transfer behaviour via dlt-daemon using some control signals. When I search for it, found only one option for it using the dlt-control SW component of DLT.

dlt-control -l 0 -a LOG -c TEST 192.168.3.38

But even after the above operation, when sending messages using the example tool dlt-example-user, the logs are still transferring.

So could you please suggest a solution for completely switch off the logs and file transfer without stopping dlt-daemon?

Thanks & regards
Prathap
