Hello, Lutz,

When you disable the following line in dlt.conf, control messages for "get_log_info" are not sent automatically.

====================================================
# Send automatic get log info response during context registration
SendContextRegistration = 1
====================================================

I hope this informaion helps you.

Thanks
Best regards.

Hi Lutz,

When disabling the mentioned messages, you used prevent the DLT Viewer from asking for these information.

There is no way to disable control (response) messages. It is all written in code without any possibility to prevent the Daemon to send them. I wonder what logs you want to disable further?

e.g.: When I disable everything as you said I see following messages:
0 2016/10/31 12:13:54.380130 355292.6545 5 ECU1 DLTD INTM 2457 log info verbose 1 ApplicationID 'LOG' registered for PID 2500, Description=Test Application for Logging
1 2016/10/31 12:13:54.380130 355292.6549 6 ECU1 DLTD INTM 2457 log info verbose 1 ContextID 'TEST' registered for ApID 'LOG', Description=Test Context for Logging

…

19 2016/10/31 12:06:25.932630 354844.2977 4 ECU1 DLTD INTM 2457 log info verbose 1 Unregistered ApID 'LOG'
20 2016/10/31 12:06:52.107630 423895.2290 0 ECU APP CON 0 control request non-verbose 0 [set_timing_packets] 00
21 2016/10/31 12:06:52.312630 354870.6830 0 ECU1 DA1 DC1 0 control response non-verbose 0 [set_timing_packets ok]
22 2016/10/31 12:07:02.932630 423906.0560 0 ECU APP CON 0 control request non-verbose 0 [set_timing_packets] 00
23 2016/10/31 12:07:02.940130 354881.5029 0 ECU1 DA1 DC1 0 control response non-verbose 0 [connection_info ok] connected
24 2016/10/31 12:07:02.940130 354881.4955 0 ECU1 DA1 DC1 0 control response non-verbose 0 [connection_info ok] disconnected (send every time the viewer reconnects)
…

You can “disable” the last 4 messages by disabling the “auto reconnect” (TCP tab in ECU configuration). In my case, no message is shown afterwards in case just the daemon is running and no application.

Not sure if this helps you, that’s why I asked for specific messages you want to disable above.

From the log above, an alignment problem of the current code can be seen that should be resolved in the future:

- on application registration: Daemon internal log
- on context registration: get_log_info
- on context unregistration: unregister_context

I’d prefer to have dedicated messages for register/unregister application/context (like unregister_context) with the possibility to disable that they are send, if the user want to rely on get_log_info triggered from viewer.

Subject: [genivi-dlt] Possibility to reduce control messages sent by dlt-daemon

Hello all,

in one of our projects the question arose if it is possible to reduce the number of control messages (namely AppID: DA1 and CtxID: DC1) sent by dlt-daemon to clients. While i am aware that these are part of the protocol i still like to forward this question.

In DLT Viewer i could untick "Timing packets from ECU", "Send Get Log Info", Send "Get SW Version" if online and "Send Default Log Level, Trace Status and Verbode Mode if online". Are there any further methods for reducing control messages?
Thanks.

Best regards
Lutz
